Over the placid sea they fly

Mirrored by the glassy water

The sun told them its last secrets over the hills

And its heat is upon the wing

In excitement they sing

White songs to each other

While men rest in beds faraway

Unaware of how complex a human life is

Imagine being brushed by the wind,

Ransacking trees

Eating fat grubs and drinking sweet water from ditches

The warm reassuring tickle in the belly

As half-alive grasshoppers and fat slugs squirm

They arrive at the beach eventually

As we will one day arrive in heaven

And as they flap grateful wings

The sand embraces them

It is a beautiful sight to behold

The eye of God is on them

And it shines on them
