everything other than love

whether it be honey or sugar

what an agony of the spirit

advancing toward death without a note

and the weatherman won’t say

it’s gonna be a stormy night with thunder crashing

I heard it said once

there’s the brunettes and the blondes

and there’s those in blue jeans with strings

of pearls but take your small town,

itty-bitty tomboy into their world
and you’ll walk into a stormy night

with thunder crashing your itsy-bitsy head

everything other than love

whether it be honey or sugar

what an agony of the spirit

advancing toward death without a note

and the billboard across the street reads:

love has a thousand faces
