Diligently applying my skills

To reap a reward to pay my bills

no time for  fun or frills

Until you crossed my mind

Meticulously taking care

Of a task appearing bare

No time to dream or stare

Have to focus on the grind

Painstakingly performing labour

Whether or not I have the vigour

Cannot think about a saviour

Who is sweet, and loving and kind

It's all work and no play

Or that is what the people say

But be that as it may

You have just crossed my mind
