This poem best describes how ignorance and lack of knowledge and understanding for those suffering from mental disease (ie. eating disorders) has lead to many "friends" and "family" walking out of my life,personally, due to my condition.

Dead “Friend”

Well friend
I’d say,

If tomorrow
Or a week from now;
Or perhaps some other day___

Not far enough away;
A day,
Not different enough from today

If I were to die
And for some generic reason
You were to cry

I think,

In my bed of dirt,
I’d laugh at you;
I’d laugh at all your ‘hurt’

I’d pity your ignorance,
For exhibiting such emotion
For someone,
you o
nly knew at a glance

I’d mumble into the wind
“Dance, living
Dance.”

The dead get their way___
I’d have you all dance
For it’d be a wretchedly beautiful day;

On a day,
No different from today.
