I stand before thee
an average man, the every man.
There is neither camouflaged nor conspicuous-
occult or overtly obvious-
between the likes of you and I.
In more ways than one,
I am you and you are I.
I am the man who drives to work
and the man who works from home.
Likewise, I am the man who often works hard
and the man who often finds himself hardly working.
I am the family man
and the man concerned with himself.
I am the professional businessman,
adorned in a thousand dollar suit;
I am the rugged outdoorsman,
who still has a predilection of denim jackets
for their usability rather than their fashion sensibility.
I am a man of men and among men-
I know the gay man as no other than my brother;
the man of darker and lighter skin is my kin.
I am friends with the man who knows no God;
I am friends with the man who knows only God.
The state of public affairs today is a pity for men;
universal love need be embraced.
Love everyone, enjoy everything,
and always live in lively efforts
to spread happiness
and to capture hatred and judgment.
Aid your fellow man like he is you, like I am you;
Aid your fellow man like you are he, like you are I.
Consider him, remember him, embrace him
and he, like I, will do the same to you.
