Here I present to you a pseudo-political pamphlet to advise against fascism in the realm of poetry. Do with it what you will.

Some say it isn’t bona fide poetry if there’s no rhyme.

This mustn’t be so, for all that’s mine

Lives on in existence without pre-governed schemes.

And hello there, what about the Facebook memes?

Poetry is walking all around us, in every which way;

Here and there it frolics, always ready to play.

Poetry is as poetry does,

A poem is everything you think it was.

No need for make-up and a new dress

To make something ostensibly beautiful from what others call a mess,

No need to have similes, metaphors, and all that stuff;

It’s disingenuous, avoiding content and theme, while remembering fluff.

I write for the sake of writing.

If I must please others, I’m only fighting

Me, myself, and I.

To write a poem, or what I consider poetry, this isn’t goodbye.
