Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV.
Infected by you.
What little there is left of my life,
I forbid time allocation
To play a stupid, obedient pawn
In your game,
A piece of a puzzle that isn’t my own
And will never, ever fulfill me.
I am important; my life is important,
Even if I don’t do what I’m told to do,
Even if you’ll never see me
As a disparate person from you.
Life’s canal brought your DNA
To become an innate part of mine,
But here, I make a visceral decision
To close off the vessels flowing between us,
Solely bringing forth foreign invaders
Attacking my body with your dreams –
All that you want and wish for –
Fusing into me unwillingly, leaving me tortured.
We inhabit a world
Without heroes or terrorists;
Everyone is simply a product of environment,
And I’m the progeny
Of a woman raping me
Of my innocence and personal desires,
To never know what I want.
Stop the transcription of your DNA
Inside of me,
Stealing from me a life of my own.
Life seeping right out of me.
A pathogenic virus killing
The beautiful, serene creature,
The child you gave birth to,
Until my blood is drawn
and replaced with your own,
All of my cells now your cells,
All of me now you.
Complete integration of your life
Into a new host body.
But what about me?
Unhook your grasp of me.
Or I’ll do it for you.
There is no ambiguity,
No middle ground with you,
You’ve brought me to the weakened state
I know now.
I’ll bring war to your
Marked by intrepidness like you’ve never seen.
Beware of my theatrics –
Oh, how I love flamboyant acts of revenge
To get what I want,
No, get what I need,
No, get what I must have
For my life to be mine. Mine.
This life is mine.
