The roses… they’re red;

The violets are blue.

I thought that I loved you;

I never did have a clue.

The sun… it’s singing high;

The rain ain’t falling low.

Life perfectly in a bow

Took a one-two-three blow.

The friends… they’re smiling happy;

The enemies are somberly sad.

Did I foresee it ending this bad?

I can say I’m not all that glad.

The roses… they’re red.

The violets are blue.

Everything I thought I knew…

Well, it just wasn’t true.
