It was an ordinary day. Broad had no clue that in just a few short hours he would get embarrassed to no end. Broad lived in an independent living facility in National City, California. His best friend was Cherish. She was sweet, loving, profound, and beautiful. Both Broad and Cherish had beautiful green eyes. Broad was up in Cherish's room talking with her when Jacy yelled from downstairs: "Cherish, your shuttle is here!" "Shuttle, what shuttle? Asked Cherish. Both Broad and her went downstairs and had a look. It was David in his blue mini-van, and he said that Cherish had an appointment at a psychiatrist's office in Chula Vista. Cherish proceeded to go back into the house and she looked through her appointment cards, and sure enough there it was October 7fth, 2011. So she went back outside, invited Broad to come with her, and he said "of course I will go." With that they jumped into the shuttle and were on their way to Chula Vista. On the way to Chula Vista Broad had David put on 105.7 The Walrus. What song came on but Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl." This was Broad's father's favorite song. Broad's father had died when Broad was 13. It was very hard on Broad and made him very angry. So when "Brown Eyed Girl" came on the radio that day it made Broad have some mixed emotions. First he was happy to be thinking of his father. Secondly, he was angry at God for taking his father away from him at such a young age. Broad looked over at Cherish and said, "I like this song." When David missed the entrance to the parking lot of the doctor's office, Cherish had him pull over and Cherish and Broad walked back to the doctor's office. As they were walking in the door Cherish said to Broad, "It's on the second floor." Broad pushed the button to call the elevator. When the doors to the elevator opened Cherish and Broad walked in. Broad could not wait to see what kind of elevator music was playing. When he walked in he recognized it right away. Once again it was Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl." This time it was a very jazzy version played on the piano. When the ride to the second floor was over Cherish and Broad stepped out and walked to the end of the hallway to the doctor's office. Once inside they were greeted by the receptionist, and her name was Lulu. Lulu asked if they had an appointment. "Yes, said Cherish, I have an appointment with Janine." "I think you are mistaken, said Lulu, Janine only comes in on Tuesdays and Thursdays." "Oh, said Cherish, I think you made the mistake, I have it right here on my card: October 7fth, 2011 12:30 pm with Janine." "Let me look it up in the computer." Said Lulu. Lulu looked it up and told Cherish that she had missed her appointment. It was for September 7fth, not October 7fth. Cherish was dissapointed. She had come all this way for nothing. She said to Broad "Let's go!" They walked to the elevator got in it, the music was still "Brown Eyed Girl" and when they got to street level Cherish said "Let's go to the mall, I have some returns to make." Broad was excited to go to the mall, he had heard there was a bookstore there, and he was very eager to check it out. Broad and Cherish then proceeded to walk through the parking lot of Scripps Hospital and they made it to "H" Street. They jaywalked across "H" Street and made it to the mall. Their first stop was Sears so Cherish could check out the brand new Kardashian Kollection. Cherish loved it. Broad thought it was mediocre. Anyway, Cherish bought a gray t-shirt with an imprint of a pocket and a pair of sunglasses. Both Cherish and Broad liked it. After Sears, Cherish wanted to take Broad to a store where they pay you to try their products. Cherish thought it was called "In store research." But when Cherish and Broad got there, they found that it was no longer in the mall, which was just fine by Broad beacuse he would have been embarrassed to do something like that. Across from the old "research" place was a jewelery store. In the window a big sign that said: SIGN UP TODAY AND GET A PAIR OF FREE DIAMOND EARRINGS. Cherish could not let an offer like that go to waste. She dragged Broad into the store, and together they got a store credit card and Cherish got her diamond earrings. As they were leaving the store Broad whispered to Cherish "you know those earrings aren't real diamonds, don't you?" "Don't be silly, Broad, Cherish responded, of course they are real." "Oh-kay." Said Broad. From there they passed a lot of new age hip stores such as Tillys, Aeropostale, and Hot Topic. They were about to pass Burlington Coat Factory when Cherish said "oh, Broad this is where I need to make my return.
