Written for a gentleman on his 90th birthday, who had survived the conscentration camps of Word War 11 and seen his friends killed daily. A great hero, as were so many of those brave men. Although written for Len this is a dedication to all of them

Lest We Forget

Days of capture, Hunger, longing,
Long since gone, but memories never fade.
A stolen youth, never to be recaptured
But the treasured gift of friendships that were made.

From camp to camp, in trucks not fit for cattle,
Thirst and hunger part of every day,
The smell of death that told us oh so sadly,
That one more brave soul had just passed away.

They tried so hard to kill our spirits daily
They didn't know that we would never fall,
Our Country called and we were there to answer
From man to boy, we stood, and we stood tall.

They didn't die in vain, our lost heroes,
We'll tell their story each day of our life,
We'll recall the sorrow and the laughter,
We'll tell of war, hardship and strife.

With the battle won we travelled homeward
With feelings both of sadness and of joy,
We''ll fly the flag with pride and will remember
Our comrades lost, every man and boy
