They shouted and screamed
We covered our sensitive ears.
Their love wasn’t what it seemed
Even thought they’d been together for two long years.
The human girl packed her bags
While my man stayed
My girl’s tail doesn’t wag,
Across her back is where my head is lain.
Her human tells her to come,
But my love stands her ground.
I try to help her some
Until my man comes around.
He grabs my collar
And holds me firm.
“No,” I try to holler
But my human just won’t learn.
I squirm to see her sparkling brown eyes
She has been fighting against her human too.
We know this break-up isn’t wise,
But against humans, what can dogs do?
So now she’s gone,
Ripped away from me
In a battle that was all wrong.
When together is still where we want to be.
