The holy priest, he was prepared
The hall, it was booked
But her husband is not here with us
By war, he was took
Her dress is so perfect, hanging in the closet
Never going to be worn
The children she had planned for so long in her mind
Will now never be born
The battle, it raged, and ended so bloody
The enemy not fighting fair
But her love and his men fought to their best
But still they lost by a hair
He and his comrades are now heroes
Forever will they be known
But that is meaningless to his bride-to-be
Now forever alone
Sadly she must now plan a funeral
Instead of her “I do”
There are flowers, black, and cemetery plots
To bid her love adieu
But in the midst of all of this
She never planned to fall
In love with the bloody battle’s lone survivor
Is this her heart’s call?
Her white dress, she may now get to wear
She might even get to say
“I do” to this man who replaced her first love
Will she move on one day?
No this man cannot replace
The one she once knew
But he can help to mend her broken heart
And help her not feel as blue
Soon the new couple will be married
And have kids of their own
She’ll name one after her heart’s first desire
Who has already been called home
