Everyday is a Rainbow Day is a soul-searching novel. My novel talks about the internal sojourn of two young souls, who discover and re-discovers the true meaning of love and life, as they goes through tumultuous roller coaster of life's struggles. It may bear close or remote resemblance to any of yours life, as it is weaved with the experiences of an entire generation, ours. Each chapter will be a leaf lifted from a life that we all have lived sometime or the other.

At the Hospital

3 a.m., Carewell hospital, Devanahalli, Bengaluru

“Sir, please come. The doctor wants to speak to you.”
Farhan sprang from the chair. “Oh. I was almost asleep” he said rubbing his eyes.
He followed the young nurse to the ICU. The doctor dressed in white and with a mask on his face was looking at some printed report.
“How is she doc?”
He surveyed Farhan squarely and said,” she’s out of danger. But she needs rest.”
He was relieved by the doctor’s reply. But when he saw her eyes shut, as if unconscious, he could not asking, “then why is she is still unconscious? I mean was the injury too much…?”
‘’She is on sedative. The external injury was not much. She just had a bruise here and there and we have bandaged her left toe, which has a deep cut.’’ The doctor took a breath and looked at him with a serious face, ‘’ the internal injury is a matter of worry. She had a narrow escape.’’
‘’What do you mean by internal injury?’’ Farhan was surprised and also tense,’’ You mean something like a brain hemorrhage? ‘’
‘’Ah man, it is not internal hemorrhage. She is already 10 weeks…’’ the doctor spoke quite rudely.
Farhan was confused. What is he trying to say? Ten weeks of what? But before he could speak the doctor shot his next question.
‘’Can you please tell me what are the medicines she is taking? Bring me the prescription and the latest USG reports.”
He gave the doctor a baffled look.
‘’Sorry, I did not get you. I don’t have anything. I just brought her…” the doctor was utterly irritated and almost snapped at him. ‘’may I know why? You were travelling with a pregnant wife! She could have a miscarriage. Don’t tell me that you don’t know anything!’’
Farhan was speechless for a few seconds. But he appeared unruffled, when he said, ‘’I am sorry Doctor, but she is NOT my wife. ‘’
Now it was the doctor’s turn. He was shocked, surprised, and above all embarrassed. He mumbled something, ‘’ who is she then? Your sister or friend?’’ and then spoke in an anxious tone,’’ do you know her at all? Or you just picked her from somewhere as an accident victim?’’
The nurse was watching the drama all this while. Now, she raised an alarm. ‘’ sir, she is gaining her senses’’ to which both the men responded, but differently.
Her hands were moving nimbly and eyes blinking. She was trying to say something. The doctor took a quick glance at the BP reading monitor and leaned slightly towards the bed for a closer view of her.
Farhan quickly moved to her side and took her hand in his palm and asked very softly, ‘’Jhelum, How are you feeling now?’’
