Once upon a time there was a great warrior Aegeus, the king of Athens. Athens is developing significantly with Aegeus's great vision. It is becoming the largest trade center of Greeks and growing into a position to command all other Greek islands with the most skilled and highly numbered navy. With the blessings of thunder god Zeus, Aethra king's wife gave birth to a male child 'Theseus'. Nothing could bring greater joy to the king than to watch his son grow old.

Years passed, Theseus reached 14 years but he hardly learned anything. Lot of Scholars in the kingdom are tried and tried to teach him, but couldn't. Even Scholars are brought from other kingdoms, still nothing but disappointment. Theseus problem is instead of thinking of how to do something(war skills, arts, political sciences etc), he always ends up thinking that he can't do that and moreover he ends up adding that he can't do anything on the top of it. His father is fed up with him. Aegeus is at the edge of losing his hope, at that point of time he decided to visit Aethra's father Pittheus, king of Troezen who is famous for his wisdom.

King Pittheus agreed to help Aegeus upon the condition that his grandson should be send to his kingdom immediately and should not ask for him till he sends him back. Aegeus agreed for the same. Aegeus was worried what would happen to his son, but he knew his grandfather won't let anything happen to Theseus.

Upon arrival Theseus was send to what seemed like a prison with lots of doors without even allowing him to meet his grandfather. He was shocked at the treatment and started cursing the guards and that they will be killed once his grandfather knew about it. Days passed, he didn't see a single person in a long time. His food used to pass from above while he fell asleep every night. He tried not sleeping some days to communicate with the prison guard, but those days when he won't sleep food is not supplied. After a while he got accustomed to the cell. Everyday he will go to all doors and knock them with a hope someone will answer, but there was no answer.

One day while knocking the doors as usual, he observed that there is a difference in sounds based on the way he knock. He found that amusing in his miserable world. He started to produce a rhythm with the knocks. He tried to keep the rhythm for longer and longer each day. One day suddenly a door opened in such a knocking moment, he went inside the room with surprise and enthusiasm. He found that the room was full of musical instruments including the famous Greek string instrument lyre made of tortoise shell. He spend there, days and days perfecting his own work and deriving pleasure from the music.

After a few more days, he thought the music is so spectacular to hear alone, how beautiful it would be to see as well. He decided to draw something as beautiful as music was to his ears. But the walls of the cell are not smooth enough to try any such thing and there were nothing he can use as a surface to draw. Then it hit him that he can draw on the tortoise shell of lyre. He solved the paints problem with food. Red from fresh meat, white and yellow from eggs. He fell asleep after drawing a while on the tortoise shell. By the time he woke up, he saw one more door was open with full of kalamos and various papyrus reeds and parchment. After spending sometime in painting, he felt painting is the music of eyes and music is the paint of ears.

A year and half passed, in the mean time one door after the other door and another door after the other door kept on opening. After 4 years staying in his grandfather kingdom, he returned home at the right time to help his father to defeat the Crete emperor and made Athens greatest among all other Greek islands.
