With hast we found shelter from the storm in the lower room, hidden from all but each other.

Ducking into the frozen chamber we canvassed it to see if it was as empty as we'd hoped.

It was. Alone, together, for the first time in... Had it been years? Veiled by dark walls, we were aloof to all.

Abruptly, in that heated moment a passion grew between us. We both felt it, neither had to say a word.

In a mad rush, as dogs panting for water in a weary land, we reached towards each other.

Our ruttish love, only a moment ago a quiet flame, was now an entire forest ablaze with white heat.

We held one another closer, but never close enough. Four parallel scraps on the back of each told the tale.

Intimacy could not be held back, never could it be controlled. We took from a tree we did not own

As quickly as it had started, it had to end. Gone forever is that moment's fleeting passion.

The taste of the fruit: worth every deception and worth the pain of its eventual waning.

I savor its sweet taste, still on my breath. No one so awaits like a man again for his lover.
