The first poem that I actually wrote by sitting down and saying "I'm going to write a poem now" rather than letting it just come to me in a vision like "I Kissed Her Goodnight."

This poem may just be, as I fear, trite,

But babe, gotta tell ya, you look great tonight

I may have put on a nice suit and tie,

But you, in that dress, have me ready to fly.

I've seen all around, tell ya, none in the world,

Could look nearly as gorgeous as my precious girl.

Trite, as I said, but words can't explain

How being without you brings me such pain

But praise God for this one and thank him again,

That never alone will I see a day end.
