Tempers rise, emotions escalate
Angrily she storms out
Seeking refuge, she speeds away
For comfort, she takes a seat

Each gulp burns her throat
But it’s taking her mind off him
Off of their hateful words
Off of her rationality

She staggers out of the room
Making her way to her car
She slumps in the driver’s seat
Tears bursting from her eyes

How could he say such awful things?
Why did he not care?
How could he stand to hurt her?
Why did she allow such pain?

Her mind was wild with countless thoughts
She didn’t even see
The danger right in front of her
Until it was too late

Twisted metal, broken glass
She lay there motionless
No longer were the feral thoughts loose in her head
She couldn’t feel anything; she was dead
