The item was a circa 1980s alarm clock radio. It was found just inside a fence at a nearby farm yard. What made it unusual is that it was working when found. There was a large piece of the plastic broken off, but it was powered on and playing a sports radio station. Running off batteries. Most of these things only used the battery to keep the alarm working when the power went out. It was covered in mud and missing the electrical cord. No brand was visible. It must have been one of the generic store models. They don't make'em like this anymore I thought, but then, I guess they do. 1980 wasn't that long ago. That's one for the collection.

His name was Riley Pinkle. His neighbors thought of him as the crazy old man who lived in a junkyard. He lived just outside city limits, so there was no law against it. They'd tried calling the EPA, but to their disappointment, there were no streams or habitats his junkyard was effecting. So far they'd just have to live with the eyesore, and its damage to their property values.

They didn't really know Riley Pinkle though. Well, Dr. Riley Pinkle Ph.D in astrophysics. He was a collector, not a crazy old man, and there was a reason for every item in the collection.
