I look at you

are you looking at me?

What do you see,

that makes you smile?

that catches your eye?

No, it's not me

but a girl can hope,

Can't she?

How many tears will I cry

that you'll never see,

Songs will I sing

that you'll never hear?

You won't see a thing,

not one solitary tear.

I can cope,

with whatever I must.

For I cannot,

give you my trust.

So on I will go

smiling that way

always smiling

day after day.

Taking no heed

of what others may say.

Smiling smiling

will be my way.
