“What an Idiot”
What a silly fantasy,
thinking you and I could be...
anything or everything
when we'll always just be nothing!
I'm the girl who's had it bad,
who has settled for every romance she has ever had...
while spending her time doodling rhymes...
and stupid hearts:
Like every idiot school girl's form of art.
Linking our names,
Just like it should be,
Like a lovestruck little girl.
Even while in another's arms,
Pretending to love them,
Saying I was free from harm,
The only face ever in my dreams
Is one that to this day is still haunting me.
Nursing the bruises from the battles I fought through,
Having it shoved in my face that -
- Maybe, it was you I should have run to.
Remembering the caress that came from your lips,
The touch of your skin under my fingertips,
Your smile that made my heart skip a beat
While I was too scared,
Or, maybe, too weak,
To love you the way you needed me to,
Or the way I deserved…
...The way you wanted to.
But, oh, what a wondrous fantasy!
But you and I could never be...
anything or everything.
We'll always remain nothing.
