We have passed the time of year where the wassailing in the orchards and the blessing of the trees happens. Now we are into the days of blossom and the promise of the fruit to come.

APPLE

I remember winter orchard

Skeletal, cold, asleep.

Until they came wassailing

With drums and voices sweet.

Wake mighty trees!

Let your spirit rise!

Be fruitful in the coming year

Reach towards the skies.

The blessings made me fertile

And my fruit is lush and sweet.

In autumns mellow light

The cycle is complete.

Love this! We live in an area in the midst of the apple industry and work as pickers in the autumn. Your poem is an accurate portrayal of nature's beauty.

Thank you. I'm very happy you liked it. Do you wassail your apples in the winter?
