Huh?

Why is everything so confused?

I understand the cat’s confusion;

I get the squirrels’. How can they know?

Know what?

But parents’, brothers’, sisters’. Confusion?

How?

They make their rules. Go left at the light,

Right at the sign,

Straight at the store, stop at the house.

They make their rules and thoughts. Read some now,

Write some then,

Learn some there, play some here.

They make their rules and thoughts and plans. Type for five,

schedule for twelve,

delay for twenty, dentist’s at six.

How can they be

Confused?

They’ve got their ruts, they’ve got their trenches.

They’ve got their schedules and

They’ve got their work.

They know what they want,

I think.

They know their friends,

I hope.

They know who’re enemies,

I believe.

They know their duties,

I reckon.

Confused?

How?

They know so much and are

Confused.

Questions, they ask, are over and over.

Over and

over.

Over

and over.

Clarify this, clarify

that.

Who? Why?

Why’s implied, isn’t it?

Who’s, too.

Spell out names, spell out

Concepts.

Spell out concepts? I can’t spell that!

Is that why

We’re confused?

This is getting me thinkin. Just what exactly were you getting at here... Hm. I feel like this is at some higher level of knowledge and knowing that my simple mind isn't capable of comprehending. I think that's why I'm confused, but it might not be why you're confused. Really nice poem!

Haha, thanks! I don't know what I was thinking, which is why I was confused, I think. Then again, confusion's a bit of a permanent state...

I enjoyed this poem as well. To be honest- witch I am, my mother is always mad because I'm too honest- I'm still trying to let it sink in.

I get that. Sometimes you have to be ridiculously careful. And, thanks!

I really like this. Has a pretty clever humor to it.

This one was fun to write. Thanks! By the way, you might get a kick out of Quid Pro Quo.
