My Choice

All souls start in heaven
In a place of waiting.
Who is going to be next?
The anticipation of waiting.
The angels  sometimes
Guide the souls to earth
To their new families.

Some sometimes go to pick their families
Those souls watched different families from heaven.
They watch until they find the right one for them.
Some souls are chosen to be returned to be re-learn or be taught a lesson from God.

When God came to me, He said,
“You shall pick one family of your choice.”
And with God I looked down on Earth watching all
Different kinds of families.

Being so wrapped up in the families, I hardly moved.
A family of three who always wanted to conceive a child; and only had adopted children but the father was a drunk. That was not the right one.
A newlywed couple on their honeymoon- no not that one.
A family of one, attending church every day, but who doesn’t always believe- not the one.
A promising couple, active in the church, but even that didn’t feel right.
It was when I heard a prayer to God,
“Dear Lord, I wish to have a daughter.”
I saw in her heart that she always wanted a girl.
I knew then that she was the one.
Turning to God and I pointed,
“I want her to be my mother.”

God called an angel with golden wings
And eyes made of the ocean,
Clothes made of the night,
And his skin made of the sun. His hair
Made of the earth.

Thus, the angel guided me to earth.
Passing through the Golden Gates,
Passed the line of judgment,
The parallel between heaven and Earth.
Where Souls are lost, forgotten and
The wondering.

I felt the pull of the Earth and became scared.
The angel said, “Don’t be afraid it’s the Earth’s gravity.”
I felt myself become solid flesh and bones.
The angel‘s hair changed to dark-light brown
And dark tan but his eyes stayed the same.

The Angel spread his arms and bear-
Like hands. I felt warmth and comforting.
Bright light surrounding me.
I floated in the air and into
The belly of my mother.

I am an answer to a prayer.
Coming out of the womb nine
Months later and being in the arms
Of a loving mother is all I could ask for.

Four years later…

After playing office, I ran to my mommy.
Hugging her, telling her that I loved her.
I said, “Mommy, when I was in heaven I asked God for you to be my mother.”
And she said,
“You are the answer to my prayer.”
