A dark shadow

moves over this year's Christmas

Within the shade

news too shocking to contemplate

Strikes at the heart

delivering heavy blows

Thumps repeatedly

until tears freely fall

She was too young

still had the spark of youth in her eye

She was my Auntie

nobody can accept it was her turn to die

A dark shadow

moves over this year's Christmas

A cruel truth

which I can not accept

While one daughter

guides her first steps into heaven

Another mourns

knowing for now she is gone

She was too young

still had the spark of youth in her eye

She was my Auntie

nobody can accept it was her turn to die

A dark shadow

moves over this year's Christmas

Seasonal will forgotten

only raw sadness prevails

Yet memories of her

lend a soft smile

Her laugh and joy

force cold shade into retreat
