As I cast my curious eye

Into the murky waters of time

A distant ripple snags

My ever flexible line

The exposed emotions

Of a care free child

Free on life's breeze

And born to be wild

Can I whisper

A premonition of what lies ahead

Offer him wisdom

Place knowledge in his head

The threat of age

And an unwelcome sensibility

The firming of roots

A new dawn of vulnerability

The magnetism

And forward march of time

Sells a rhythm

Placing past in decline

So it is a nuisance

Over flowing from a cup

A tidal pulse,

Screaming its time to grow up
