Hear this poem being read

Young Curly O'Hearn was a complex being

At the first scent of trouble he was always seen fleeing

Joined the army at the tender age of eighteen

Felt he'd become a man all dressed in khaki green

After basic training was spent jogging in Brussels

Senior staff commented on his under developed muscles

With heavy artillery secure in his hand

His some what small status was felt to expand

Curly soon learned to navigate a tank

Started to mix and was confident when he drank

After four months he was ready, considered part of the beast

A militarized animal seeking regime change in the middle east

Iraq was full of dust, O'Hearn would complain

In between the boredom he prayed for rain

He held a certain disdain for the local folk

kids would throw rocks and often they'd joke

Why was such an obvious inadequate figure

here at all, but to make himself appear bigger

While setting up a block on a secure road

The realism of war hit, a vehicle was heard to explode

Nothing had changed and despite armoured protection

Our hapless hero ran in the opposite direction

A sniper in the distance took time and aim

And planted a bullet in Curly's brain

News of his death travelled pretty fast

Another statistic for CNN to broadcast

First his body was placed in a white nylon bag

Soon upgraded to a wooden coffin, wrapped in a flag

His body home and now considered an heroic lad

His colleagues continue the ongoing fight in Baghdad
