It was like

the breeze from an approaching underground train

Shaken, stirred and dizzy with love

my extended hand found yours

Columns of darkness

sought to block our assured future

It was like

a maze that shifted and lied

Our eyes did the talking

we discovered the treasure of touch

Out of breath

tears of happiness insulated the winter

It was like

each petal of snow was a crafted gift

We shared the light on a candle

and the space on a pillow

Shadows appeared

your eyes grew tired

It was like

I was at an endless funeral

Alone with only memories

each heavy fisted and unkind

Weary and bruised

the pulse of ink slow

It was like

the language of love should remain unwritten
