Fighting the dolour

that confirm it's a year

I obey your littoral invite

carry my shame to the pier

Amongst still, cold rides

and strained gull chords

Footsteps of anguish

tread the rain weary boards

Memories stab

and within the mirrored blade

Is the written bond

together we made

Blood runs on chrome

yet fails to disguise

The chanted verse

you carry in your eyes

I stood there still

as you ask if I know

The promise we made

twelve months ago

Death was our salvation

pain could be soothed

Our plan was to jump

but at the last second I moved

Even in death

your beauty left me weak

I reached out

to dry your wet cheek

You faded

denied my grip

Reappeared in time

to watch me slip

You knew the sea

and how she'd behave

Her salty clot

would become my grave

That night;

a little later than planned

We walked

Brighton beach hand in hand
