I have for as long as I can remember found photos of the past very rewarding, boasting clues to all our pasts.

The published blink of time

demands my respectful touch

A rectangular mirror

that forever hosts a memory

My curiosity is absorbed

distributed within the matt paper

The edges are fragile

the stain of time apparent

It shows much

yet conceals far more

My obvious intrusion

ignored by their collective grey stare

The blurred face of the young girl

is no doubt wrinkled today

I guess the elders here

are by now all dead

The strange design

of the parked bike

The Parisian scene

contains not one smile

The back says France 1926

the front invites an eye to yesteryear

Male clothes a little stiff

ladies wearing dresses that drag the floor

Each human in the dated flash

carries a novel of tales

I will never read their story

but my imagination hears their words
