When my kids were young I would make up stories about Sammy the Squirrel, he always getting himself into trouble.

Sammy the Squirrel juggles like a clown

On the top branch and won't come down

Perfect balance doesn't care

Three nuts up in the air

Sammy ignores the distant call

He is confident he'll never fall

Down at the floor amongst the rough

A furious Father has had enough

Sammy's Dad climbs the tree

And arrives in time just to see

Sammy slip on a layer of frost

Balance broken, three nuts lost

Hanging by the strength of a single claw

Sammy's eyes stare straight at the floor

Animals are staring back at him

Feeling giddy, the forest starts to spin

”Stay steady, remain calm

Grab hold of my outstretched arm”

Sammy lets go and things look bad

His claws dig deep into the fur of Dad

Dad looks at Sammy, a speech all prepared

Instead gives a smile, poor Sammy is scared

Mummy soon appears, thoughts in a muddle

Squeezes Sammy with the biggest cuddle

Back on ground, still gripped with fear

Ears deafened by an animilistic cheer

All the questions make Sammy collapse

Sammy needs home and time to relax

Sammy doesn't play in the tree any more

Just safely juggles on the forest floor

Every time to a packed out crowd

Mum and Dad feeling forever proud

I see that 'pride goeth before a fall' applies in the animal world also.
Nice use of rhyme to carry the story along.
