The dark spectre of woe

selects another

Her eyes fell skyward

seeking the divine

He squeezed drops of despair

into her needy soul

The salty poison

stressed her already tired heart

Her hope became

drowned in disillusion

The burden of pain too great

the expectation of relief gone

She swallows a handful of pills

to dissolve his injection of grief

As warm hands descend

and offer her refuge above

Only her forlorn shadow
