Being a bit artsy, esoteric, and quite inclusive of imagery. All-in-all I'm pretty proud of this piece, but I might update it eventually.

"Coast to Sea"
Written by Phillip Roberts, this day of May the twenty-third, two thousand twelve, one hour ten minutes down the clock.

I sailed along the ebon coast of life
But now it's time to seek out new horizons
The sea beyond scares me at times
and I don't know if I can make the journey alone
But I have to, as we all do, and one day, so will you

Drifting further from the land where I was born
I wonder, often, where these winds will lead me
A land that's new or an endless voyage into the sea
I'm happy to be ignorant of the outcome,
-because it's the adventure that I seek
But should winds become weak and fail to see me away
Send me your voice to my unfurled sails that I might make it just one more day

I wonder why there are no other ships to be found?
Am I the only soul to float along the blue-green canopy?
Could it be that they remain yet anchored upon the ground?
Alas I cease to be worried, because one day all must take the voyage through the sea.
One day all will be released upon the peaceful ocean's lull to make way upon their ship's hull.
And though we all must take the voyage in sight, I'll take it along a bit further tonight.

The skies this evening are burnt orange and pierced red
A peaceful overhead of omens that glow alight my night
The winds have calmed but the current shares my desires
It keeps me going, though the tired wind expires
Is it all that I know to be true?  Or have I been taught by liars?
I worry about these things no longer, as the ebon coast behind becomes distant and smaller.

I am enveloped now by azure sky and waters all around
Peace has never been so easily attained
I relax my mind, ease my pain, and exhale my soul upon the wind as I sail further and further, on and away.
