I feel the bruises on my hips

Left behind by finger tips

Little spots of black and blue

Left so I’ll remember you.

I feel the bruises on my face

Where your fingers tried to trace

The outline of my blackened eyes

Hidden by cosmetic lies.

I feel the bruises on my chest

Where you hit me with your best

Black and blue and red and green

The ugliest that I have seen.
