As the blistering summer sun beats down on our bare backs,
A single bead of sweat trickles down your face,
Tracing the line of your nose, the curve of your lips,
Until it falls onto the dry earth and is forgotten.
As the full moon shines on the color-splattered trees of autumn,
A tear tumbles down your blushing cheeks,
Several more follow, creating a raging river of sorrow,
Until the light, comforting breeze dries them, making us forget.
As the winter blizzards rage to make their seas of white,
A snowflake lands on the end of your eyelash,
You blink, and the crystal art melts into a memory,
Until another takes its place.
And as the rain of spring blankets the earth, washing away the mistakes of the past,
The raindrops find your open mouth,
And as you taste the sweetness of each silky drop,
I pass away in your arms with peace in my heart.
