This is written to my friend, in hopes that this will help with his way in the world. It highlights how complex a person is....if imperfectly. A 15 minute scrawl thought on for hours, I present Eyes of the Faithful

Eyes of the Faithful
To be sure, dear friend,
You stare with half-lidded eyes
Eyes of hollowed caves,
Eyes that weep internally.
Eyes that are hungry
But never do you move to sate them,
Eyes that hurt
But never find relief.
Eyes that plead
But never seek out its desires
Eyes that shield,
From other eyes the truth.
Eyes that are frightened to attach,
For fear of weakening thyself through care.
Oh, they toll, toll, toll
Taxing from the body its meticulous bare.
Opaque as the moon stone
Confusing as the ocean,
For the waves howl
And the currents shriek
Their everlasting ovation.
But not all waves howl
And currents may not shriek.
The ocean’s calm comes as
A wonder of wonders
To this world of ours.
Pain does come through caring
But the subject of the love
Is always worth caring for.
As long as you seek and find
The Eyes of the Faithful.

I can relate to this poem. It really speaks to me because I am the exact same way. Cleverly written. Well done.
