I find it interesting to see

Just how fickle our emotions can be.

Tears can stream from your eyes

At your own or another’s demise.

Yet they just as readily flow

When laughter from your lips forth blow.

We still laugh and we cry

And we yell at a God in the sky…

Emotions are under our control!

Or is it a reversal of the role?

I find I frustrating to see

Just how fickle our emotions can be.

A smile, at an airy sound,

Flips to the fury of a frown.

Fighting, kicking, screaming foes

Can share each others’ laughs and woes.

We still laugh and we cry

And fall on our knees asking why…

We are under Emotion’s control.

The ruthless masters of our soul.

I find it strange to see

Just how fickle our emotions can be.

Of hatred is born a love so compelling

Yet our affection can lead to our anger swelling

Emotion, emotion, ever present and true

These powerful feelings, whipping inside of you.

I’ll still laugh and I’ll still cry

And on emotion’s wings I’ll fly.

For what does control matter

In a world where you own my heart.
