Love is such a pretty thing, that seldom comes around

Not even silly mutations can ruin something so profound

But now, my love, I cannot even reach out to touch your hand

I feel so lonely, just like Rogue, trapped in a loveless Land.

If I could, darling, grow for me a pair of angel wings

I’d fly all the way to you, we’d dance around in rings.

We are just some normal people who share a thing more deep

This love is like a crazy mutation that just won’t let me sleep!

If only we had been ourselves a pair of telepaths

We could build our own Cerebro-rooms an instant contact line

We could stand, face to face, and then I’d see you smile,

We’d chat and laugh and maybe I’d touch your face a while.

I’d loved you once upon a time but now you’re far away.

But I’ll find a teleporter, love, and see you again some day.

Pain is such a simple thing, that often visits me

‘Specially as I think of you (that happens frequently).

I might not be just what you ask for in the right partner

But if I could morph, for you, yes you, then I’d become another.

And though there are so many many obstacles in our way,

Just like Kitty Pryde, my love, I’d run through them anyway.

After all we are just normal people who share a thing more deep

This love is mutating ever faster and I don’t want to sleep.

If only we had been ourselves a pair of telepaths

We could build our own Cerebro-rooms an instant contact line

I’d say “I love you” over and over until my face turned blue

And you would know it’s truth, my dear, and say you love me too.

I’d loved you once upon a time but now you’re far away.

But I’ll find a teleporter, love, and see you again some day.

Ye love is such a pretty thing that belongs to me and you

It doesn’t matter, love, whether you’re white or black or blue

If anyone should ask me this, I’d call my fatal flaw:

I’d fight for every day with you like Wolverine with tooth and claw.

But sometimes, dear, just like a man of ice, your heart is cold.

You shoot me with a fiery smile and all my defences fold…

After all we are just normal people who share a thing more deep

This mutation is the strongest and will never let me sleep!

‘Cause I love you!
