Apollo III
The Truth of Gemini

What we have
is a passing cloud of asteroids
——those heavenly stones hiding words
that compose a poem,
the poem turning into a sword.

And though your breath
keeps shadowshapes away,
I curse you to become a star.
Not to be my beacon on dark
evenings of either June or May,
but a mere dot in the vastness
of the black sky
——fixed, alone and in eternal silence.

I can fathom why
even the very wise
marvel at your sight
for your as beautiful as
an icicle in the desert.
