This is my opinion of Uglies, which is the first book in the Uglies series, by Scott Westerfeld. Enjoy!

Ugly. Ever been called that? Well, this book puts a new spin on that word. How?

Tally Youngblood is part of the 'uglies.' She's a 15 year old girl. Why is that important? In her world, about 300 years after the Rusty crash (us, basically), life is seperated into different sections. From birth to age 12, you're a 'littlie.' 12 to 16, you're an 'ugly.' 16 to mid 50's you're a 'new pretty.' I'm getting ahead of myself here, she's an ugly right now. Waiting for her operation. The pretty operation, that is, for lack of better words to describe it. Beauty isn't natrual anymore. In fact, only a handful of people are natrual born pretties in this world. Tally isn't one, to say the least. Frizzy red hair, too close eyes, high forehead, and a squashed nose. You can see why she's waiting for that operation, right?

Now, through in someone that isn't sure she wants the operation. Enter Shay. Another 15 year old girl, waiting for that operation. Only, this one isn't too sure she wants it. What more could you ask for!? A pretty face, perfect body, no more sickness, a life of happy and fun! The only place you can't get that is the Smoke. What happens?

I'm not saying anything more about the actual book. This is one of my favorite series. If you were to give me a 1-5 star rating, I'd give it 10 stars! That's how much I love this. The plot is great. No one would think that these twist come, I certainly didn't! I really do recommend this book!
