Prequel to Holding a Baby

I've never been very balanced

Only know sarcastic grace

I'm the one who only pranced

Subject to carelessly misplace

Even though I had never broke

A single valuable thing

A sip of water could make me choke

A single step a fall could bring

My mind was often subject to wander

Through paths of dreams and memories

I had a hard time staying under

The realm of possibilities

And so how could I trust myself

With the greatest gift on earth?

A parents best and most loved wealth?

A life of so much worth?

I was full of doubt and fear

Others around me paved the way

Every mistake my heart would seer

Leaving me a disappointed gray

So with my cluttered, scattered brain

Holding a Baby was my fear

But if an ending to this storied you'd claim

My other poem makes it clear

PLEASE READ “HOLDING A BABY” FOR THE ENDING
