Recently came across a forum where people were discussing what they would tell their much younger selves to do and not do.

Dear Myself,

©2010 PocketxFullxOfxDreams

I sit here to write you a letter,
And though you are but eight,
I have not a single doubt:
My words will carry weight.

For I am you years from now,
An older and wiser edition;
And now if you'll allow me dear,
I'll write out my rendition.

There is a time to be silent,
And a time you must speak;
You've got them rather reversed:
Dear, you won't get far so meek.

At times you will be overwhelmed:
Do not ever, ever doubt the truth.
And do not be so eager, dear,
To be thoroughly rid of your youth.

It won't be much longer now,
Till all your ideals are crushed.
Your own words may burn you,
But never let your voice be hushed.

You must always pick up the broken,
And reassemble every shard.
Do not let doubt consume you,
Even though life will be hard.

Stop being so damned afraid,
Of making a single mistake.
And please for both our sakes',
Don't spend those two years: fake.

Do not ever doubt yourself,
When you value love and kindness;
Though they may be foreign enough,
To these things never be mindless.

I'll repeat again the message, dear,
I do wish the most to convey:
You never made a mistake too terrible,
To keep in the words, "I'll be Okay."
