A New Me

Twisted agony

Becomes my soul

Night turns to morn

A new day

Lilacs in full bloom

And puddles on the lawn

A sign of rain

A sign that life will go on

In the early hours

I felt a new life

A new leaf uncurled

A new person was born

As the sun rose

I could feel my tortured soul gain peace

The war inside me had stopped

War replaced by peace

How convenient

I felt new

And alive

The air was fresh and new

I never liked the mornings

But now I felt the need to wake

To walk

To tell the world I still lived

And it felt like yesterday

That I found a new self

I became lilac

Fresh and new

And the roses blossomed

I began to love spring

And in the height of spring

I became a new me
