Disappearing smiles,

Fading photographs,

Hidden in molding files…

Child-like laughs,

Echo off empty walls.

Piggyback rides,

Strolls down the halls,

Long forgotten in waves and tides…

This little girl,

At six years old,

Spinning in a twirl,

Couldn’t ever be told…

His face forgotten,

Ten years past,

Memories short and softened,

Of him, smiling his last…

Remembered now,

With love and tears,

Looking back, I don’t know how

I missed their fears…

To a little child,

He was a graceless dancer,

Funny and wild,

With a deadly cancer…

How I missed it, I’m not sure,

The coffins and stones all look the same,

I never knew where we were,

All I could say, was Uncle Tom never came…
