POEM
Unable to put pen to paper
I sat in a silent room
Surrounded by the light of scented candles
Incense infused air
I closed my eyes and looked up to the space above
Praying for inspiration
Yearning for some sort, any sort of assistance
And just as I was beginning to doubt
Myself
A small voice spoke through the silence
You are God’s poem
He wrote you while intoxicated
By the beauty of life
As he sipped from a cracked
Goblet, he scribbled line after misconstrued line
Inspired by his lyrically architectural mind
He built you up
Word by word
Limb for limb
You were written with God’s
Mythical quill dipped in bloody ink
You are God’s poem
And your worth is determined
By the fact that you were written by him
He wrote you while he dreamt
Of beauty
While he foresaw joy and love
He wrote in the absence of fear and confusion
In the absence of tears
You are God’s poem
And it is not blasphemous to think that
A greater blasphemy
Would be denying Him as your author
You are God’s poem
Written in the presence of love
True love
True love that flourishes in honesty
And you are that poem
That poem
Written on that day
Because you were and still are
Worthy enough to be written by God’s hand
The incense died out
And the wax melted
But the truth remained
I am God’s poem
And that
Is an honour that you too
Should claim.
