Youth Gone.

(c) 25/11/2008. By Poetlife.

I woke one day,

Shocked to realise,

When I looked in the mirror,

A different woman

Was looking back at me!

Who was she?

No wait,

It can't be?

It's me.

Where had the years

Of

Youth gone?

So quickly it seemed!

Since I was young!

Had I been too busy with life?

To

Notice the passing of time?

Or

Choicemade to ignore?

The passing years,

Flashing by, fast.

Grey hair

I tried to conceal,

Colour of youth

From a bottle,

Not the same.

Young woman's fresh, clear skin,

Replaced by age lines

In their place,

Of

Life's journey

Race.

Young woman,

Had disappeared before my eyes,

With passing years.

An older woman,

Stared back at me.

Was she wiser?

Stronger?

Young at heart?

More alone than ever?

Eyes have lost the innocent

Sparkle, of a girl's expectant heart..

They are dimmer,

Wiser from life's hurts, loss, broken heart,

Disappointments, pain.

Where had the years

Of

Youth gone?

Days of splendour,

Why had they gone so fast?

Old friends, family, loved ones,

No longer , here

To share

Her journey into older years.

Yes!

But she has

The Lord.
