Fences

Around homes

Around lives

Set up to protect

As a reminder

To all around

What's yours

What's mine

The problem is

Sometimes they can trap

Sometimes they can bind

They limit what we see

They limit what we experience

They form boxes

In our minds

They lead to judgment

Who is wrong

Who is right

Fences

We all need them

But let us be careful

Of the fences we build

And who we are not allowing

To enter

Through the gate
