They sneered at me as I entered the grandiose hall

All flamboyant visages with their showy masks on

I was definitely a misfit in that garden of prosperity

With the poetry of my life quite dissimilar…..it was considered lunacy

The snickers on my flaws were so prominent

That it would make any living soul feel like remnant

Nevertheless, my eyes recklessly searched for you

For my lust for your sight was killing me through

I didn’t care the fake society that smothered me

All covered with the masks of treachery

Because I long ago learnt that you craved for my soul

And not how I looked or what I wore

By dusk, I knew, the crowd would fade

And the dreams of the abandoned ones would regenerate

But, there would be a you and a me, left alone all true and mask-less in that masquerade.
