The lies you told us about
How it’s great to go to war
Are only great until we feel the pain
And then until we fall
The sound of our heart thuds
And echoes in out ears
And then we hear the voice of God
And that confirms our fears

Deep, unexploded mines
Buried beneath our feet
How many of us will live
And how many will be beat
By the true horrors of the war
This burning, dreadful hate
I thought that going out to war
Was going to make us great.
