Ah, I know my poems rely too much on repetition. What can I say? It's how I'm thinking on January 16th. Oh well, such is the way of things.

Radio plays “Kitty Waltz”

for Mama Jean,

and she dances, barefoot

on the wood floor.

--------------------------------------------------

Radio says “Good evening”

for Mama Jean,

and she adjusts the knob

straining to hear.

--------------------------------------------------

And the music plays through

the house.

--------------------------------------------------

Radio plays “Buffalo Gals”

for Mama Jean,

and she dances, booted,

on the snow porch.

--------------------------------------------------

Radio says “Good morning”

for Mama Jean,

and she adjusts the antenna,

listening closely.

--------------------------------------------------

And the music plays around

the outside walls.

--------------------------------------------------

Radio plays “Master's Call”

for Mama Jean,

and she dances, in slippers,

on the bearskin carpet.

--------------------------------------------------

Radio says “Good afternoon”

for Mama Jean,

and she adjusts the volume,

hoping to catch each word.

--------------------------------------------------

And the music plays around

on the soft bedroom walls.
