If for one thing in life we gain

Must it be so full of pain?

Can’t we simply live our life

Within pure serenity, without strife?

These questions I ponder in subsiding my fear

In hopes that I never lose you my dear.

For if these walls around us crumble

My only wish is to hear you mumble

“I’m fine, I’m free” I can hear you speak,

My heart is rising, high on a peak.

I hear your breathing, I feel your touch,

But then in a flash I lose so much.

Your body is there but where’s that stare

Of bright blue eyes saying “don’t you care.

I’ll make it through I’ll be just fine,

Now you go home and enjoy some time.”

I stand there idle for a moment or two,

My faith unhinged, without a clue.

And then as the sun shoots through the skies,

My dear friend and partner opens her eyes.
